According to a media report, Tata Motors has registered the Altroz turbo petrol with the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The car is likely to be launched sometime around this Diwali.
The RTO application indicates that the Altroz Turbo will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a peak output of 108 BHP. The engine is likely to be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while a dual-clutch automatic transmission could be introduced later.
Spy images suggest that Tata might offer the Altroz Turbo in a new shade of Blue, which was not offered on the Altroz at launch. It gets smoked tail lamps, black rear fascia with the ‘Altroz’ lettering and 4-spoke alloy wheels.
At present, the Altroz is offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 85 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 3,300 rpm. A 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit that puts out 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1,250-3,000 rpm is also offered. Both engines come paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
