Fiat Introduces All-Electric E-Ducato Van

“100% Ducato, 100% Electric”

FCA’s commercial vehicle arm Fiat Professional presents the production version of its all-electric Ducato van, the Fiat E-Ducato, a year after the first prototype was shown in mid-2019. It will be the first electric Ducato in the 39-year history of the model.

It’s expected to enter the European market within the next few months, starting from selected countries, and will be available in all body variants, offering a payload of up to 1,950 kg and load volume from 10 to 17 m3.

Soon, the company intends to conduct extensive specific field testing by partner clients under normal working conditions. It should help to verify the range, which – depending on battery option – will be from 200 km (124 miles) to over 330 km (205 miles). Battery capacity was not yet disclosed.

Since we don’t know the final specs or the prices, it’s hard to evaluate how well it might sell. One single drawback that we have noticed so far is the location of the charging inlet, right behind the driver’s door. It’s an inconvenient location because it may be problematic to enter the cabin when the charging cable is connected. We saw it in one of the Bjorn Nyland’s videos here (Volkswagen e-Crafter – from 7:00) and many manufacturers already moved the charging inlet to the front.
