To appropriate a popular Thai expression in reference to a pair of South Korean-made SUVs (don’t bother thinking about it too hard), the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride are … same, same, but different. They’re both all new for the 2020 model year; both come from parent company Hyundai-Kia; both are named for exclusive, highfalutin places in the western U.S.; they share underpinnings and many parts; and they’re priced similarly, starting at just less than $33,000, including a destination charge. And they’re both incredibly popular among Cars.com readers.

So how does someone shopping for a new family-fun-hauler tip the scales toward either the Palisade and the Telluride?
