No spoiler alerts necessary, but let’s just say that for car shoppers, the reveal coming later this week is gonna be bigger than learning that Rosebud’s a sled, Soylent Green is people or Bruce Willis was a ghost. Cars.com will soon bestow its most prestigious award of the year, Best of 2021, upon one worthy winner.

No need to pretend you’re not interested: Cars.com readers have already exhibited their excitement over our editors’ top picks in categories including: 2021 Luxury Car of the Year (the redesigned Cadillac Escalade); 2021 Family Car of the Year (the updated Volkswagen Atlas); Best Value of 2021 (the Hyundai Venue); and Best Pickup Truck of 2021 (the updated Ford F-150). Among our most popular news stories published in February, each of the articles accompanying the announcement of the award recipient ranks high on our monthly countdown — the Escalade and F-150 at Nos. 1 and 4, respectively, and the Venue and F-150 at Nos. 6 and 7, respectively.
As far as what will ultimately take home the top prize, it’s anybody’s guess — but it’s certainly not hurting the Escalade’s and F-150’s chances that they’re the respective winners in the luxury and pickup truck categories. Still, those models face some stiff competition. Take the Genesis GV80, for one: In addition to being yet another all-around win for Hyundai’s ever-expanding luxury division and a fierce competitor in the fiercely competitive SUV market, the all-new GV80 has been credited by some speculators as having helped save pro golf icon Tiger Woods’ life in his recent injurious crash.
Fellow Best of 2021 nominees include the redesigned Hyundai Elantra, all-new Kia Seltos and redesigned Kia Sorento. You can get the rundown on each of the contenders for the big prize by following the related link above.
